Stewarding Organizational Development + Anti-Racist Leadership

Context

Leading racial equity practitioners in Houston wanted to create a non-profit that drew on the narratives and lived experiences of BIPOC communities to reshape research, advocacy and policy landscapes to equitably center marginalized voices through anti-racist leadership development.

Our Work

We designed and launched a non-profit organization and its flagship fellowship.

Serving as steering committee leaders, we supported the Race Equity Leadership and Research Collective founders in building and launching a nonprofit focused on training and developing anti-racist leaders. Using in-depth research; critical racial analysis; and strategic guidance for operational excellence, development initiatives, and long-term sustainability, we facilitated an iterative process to bring their vision from idea to impact.

The Impact

Established strong institutional connections with researchers, policymakers, activists, funders, and backers, fostering valuable partnerships

Co-created compelling brand, mission, vision and foundational pillars to define the nonprofit and fellowship

Orchestrated the successful launch of 2 cohorts of the Ukombozi Fellowship, a year-long program created to train, cultivate, and support new and emerging leaders committed to anti-racism change work
